How to Make a Submission to Plan Change 78
Spokesperson McRae
Many people are understandably concerned about the effects of intensification on Devonport. If you are one of those, please make a submission to Auckland Council by 29 September.
All submissions will be heard by an Independent Hearings Panel throughout next year and it is vital that the people of Devonport and Auckland speak up now about how they want their city to develop into the future.
It is easy to make a brief submission. The options include:

Please note: as a guide we have filled in the particular provisions you should tick.
Guide
This is our short guide, but it is important to use your own words.
You must fill in your name and address and say if you want to appear at a hearing or join with others and you should tick both these.
In answer to the first question "The specific provisions that my submission relates to" you should write "Chapter D18 Special Character Overlay as it relates to Devonport".
We suggest you then tick the Yes box that says “I wish to have the provisions identified above amended"
The reasons for your views could suggest that Devonport is an important historic area, a unique marine suburb, and a popular tourist attraction. Intensive developments will greatly impact its heritage value and destroy the low-scale coherence of Devonport's character.
In answer to "I seek the following decision by Council" you could make these points:
Delete the Mixed Housing Urban zone altogether or in particular areas.
Retain the Special Character Overlay over Devonport
Make the Victoria Road shopping area an Historic Heritage Area
Remove Policy 3d from residential areas in Devonport
You can also write a longer piece with your reasons for keeping the Special Character Overlay for Devonport and attach it to the form.
